About the Author
Ralph Napolitano has been a licensed health-care provider in New York State for more than 25 years, although his study of health and healing predates that by many years.

He is also a Hepatitis C survivor, medical researcher and patient advocate.

As an avid runner for 14 years, Ralph learned a great deal about how to enhance his overall health. Ralph worked in a health-food store back in 1975 (when they were still quite rare). It was there he began to learn about natural foods and supplements.

Ralph was also a fitness trainer at one of the premier health clubs in the country.

Studying to become a licensed healthcare provider in New York gave him a deep grounding in anatomy and physiology (he even studied cellular biology and biochemistry). During the 1980's Ralph hosted a popular cable television program where he interviewed many recognized experts in the health field.

In 1996, Ralph co-founded a leading healthcare institute and published numerous courses for healthcare professionals. These courses have been studied by thousands of practitioners worldwide. Good insights and useful practical information

People with hepatitis C should hear alternative viewpoints in contrast to the common medical opinions that are prevalent. This book provides very good naturalpathic insights and useful practical information.

Ralph Napolitano is an informed hepatitis C educator and speaks frankly about how one can survive with hepatitis C. It often takes years of both living with hepatitis C and researching new developments and health claims to find out what works best and to sort out the truth from false information. Ralph has done both and has written a worthy book for those interested in this subject.

My personal story is very similar to Ralph's. I have had the virus for 40 years and am currently asymptomatic. I take milk thistle (and other herbs and supplements) every day and am surviving. I spoke to Ralph several times over the past years and know of his passion for promoting health.

The book is designed to easily understand what is important. It is also filled with many brief stories from other survivors with varied experiences. And, there is an index to quickly find what you are looking for. The 55 survival secrets are important and worth learning. With hepatitis C, the more you know the better you can survive.

Full of Valuable Information

I believe anyone with HCV reading this book will find great value, not
just regarding improving mortality, but also enhancing quality of life.
Hepatitis C Survival Secrets is full of valuable information to help
make any Hepatitis C patient a "survivor". What I especially liked is
that the author covered a full range of options from standard medical
treatment to herbal therapies without preaching. He stresses the
responsibility of the patient to get educated and take control of their
own situation, instead of turning over all their power to either doctors
OR snake oil salespeople.

Probably Really Cares

There is a need for this book. There's so little information on alternative choices for living with HCV but an internet(and medical community) full of misinformation. Physicians want to treat, they don't want to watch the patient over time with non-pharmacologic interventions. I find the author's upbeat tone helpful and I want to belive that the author is sharing his personal knowledge from a place of caring. The book is easy to read, well ordered and informative. However, my complaint is that, throughout the book, and on his website, the author praises "Megathistle" as the best product to use of the available Milk Thistle supplements on the market and yet the product is not available anywhere. I have emailed the author and asked him where I could purchase this product, but have not received a response. Because of this one issue, I feel a little distrustful of the rest of the information that the author conveys.

UPDATE: Shortly after I posted this, I did get a response to my email. The author kindly apologized for his delay in responding, but the Megathistle is still not available.

A short course in New Testament Greek

In this book, Gary Zeolla thoroughly explains the philosophy and decisions that resulted in his Analytical-Literal Translation: Third Edition (ALT3, available separately). Section One (five chapters) addresses the general background of that work. Section Two (three chapters) contains a glossary of key vocabulary terms and more extensive discussions of baptism and units of measurement. Section Three (nine chapters) provides a comprehensive yet succinct review of Greek grammar, fostering an appreciation of some of the difficulties inherent in translating from that language into English; the summary in chapter 16 is especially helpful. Section Four (three chapters) presents alternate readings from the Majority Text (Byzantine Textform) as published by Robinson & Pierpont in 2005, which served as the basis for the ALT3, as well as its significant variations from the Received Text (KJV, NKJV) and/or the Critical Text (virtually all other English versions). Taken together, using the ALT3 in conjunction with this book is the next-best thing to studying God's Word in the original language.

I would like to make a couple of additional comments about baptism. The author is a Baptist, but as discussed in this book, he has conscientiously sought to prevent his own theological biases from intruding into the ALT3. As a Lutheran, I believe that he has succeeded admirably in this regard. I endorse his decision to retain the traditional words "baptize" and "baptism," rather than rendering them as "immerse" and "immersion," respectively. I also agree with "baptize IN water TO repentance/forgiveness" as the most literal expression, rather than the more common "baptize WITH water FOR repentance/forgiveness." However, I think that Mr. Zeolla overstates his case in chapter 17, where he discusses Acts 22:16 at considerable length and claims that it is grammatically "impossible" to interpret it as implying that getting baptized is related to getting washed of one's sins. While it would indeed be unwarranted to say that the two commands MUST be connected, it is going too far the other way to say that they are definitely NOT connected. However, this is really just a quibble and should in no way be taken as a criticism of this book or the ALT3 itself, both of which I consider to be excellent.

About the Author
Doug Harris comes from a traditional mid-west American Lutheran family. Harris earned a BA in Communications in Chadron, Nebraska in 1990. As a former small town journalist Harris' articles have appeared in many regional newspapers throughout western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming, with an emphasis on human interest and historical pieces. He has recieved special citation for his writing on Mexican American history in Western Nebraska. Ian Hewitt is a British college drop-out who decided to wander the world and see it with his own eyes rather than read about it in musty text books. After traveling here, there, and in between, he eventually settled in the frigid mountains of south-eastern Wyoming with the woman of his dreams and the job of his life. Hewitt is an avid and prolific blogger and has maintained his blog, An Ordinary Life [ianehewitt.blogspot.com], against all the odds since 2006.

Varying paradigms always worth a look!

If there's anything I've learned from life it is that my reality is not yours, though truth is truth. Buddhists subscribe to emptiness for this very reason; if we allow ourselves to be glued to ourselves, we will never see the world in any view but ours. We all have flawed paradigms, and until you comprehend all truth from a single platform, having all things before present and after in your sight, your paradigm will be incomplete. For this reason I find this book refreshing. I am a Christian in belief, practicing and believing also in Mormonism's roots, as well as much of what the torah, Buddhists and hindus believe. The book is refreshing in that it offers the views of a Christian and an Atheist (humanist) together in an honest discussion. Both believe themselves to be correct, and yet both believe that the Journey of discovery is vital. REading their thoughts as they banter openly (the emails weren't originally meant for a book) makes them even more of an honest look. I believe its worth the time of any person to read the thoughts of others and this book is every bit of that, the open and honest thoughts of two men look and searching.

God Knows This Book Helped My Faith!

I love this book because it's just the antithesis of a stuffy theological essay. It's really engaging; a genuine, (sometimes irreverant & humorous) conversation & one which I kept wanting to jump right into!

It would perhaps have been useful to have a copy of the article which sparked the discussion but as all the questions in the original article are outlined, it wasn't hard to get up to speed.

There was a point when one of the authors explained the sacrifice of Jesus in the most simple & beautiful, poignant & relatable way I had ever come across. Despite an intensely religious upbringing (Christian)I had never understood this in such a tangible & personal way. For that alone, God Knows is well worth reading. I think reading this & The Shack have been the two best things that have ever happened to my faith.

About the Author

Yabin Yu was born in Beijing, China. Cooking has been her lifelong passion, and becoming a cookbook author has been her aspiration for years. She immigrated to the United States in 1986 as a graduate school student studying engineering. She was a senior software engineer at Baker Hughes before she retired in 2006. Since then, she planned to write a cookbook. Her cooking philosophy and approach are signified by her simple, healthy, and delicious ethnic-fusion cuisine. Yabin holds a Master's degree in electrical engineering from the City University of New York. She currently lives in the Woodlands, north of Houston, with her husband Richard. Besides cooking, she enjoys gardening, music, travel, and reading.

Jialin Tian was born in Tianjin, China. When she was young, she enjoyed helping her mother and grandmother in the kitchen. She became interested in cooking when she was an engineering student in college. To her, cooking combines art, science, and engineering. She has co-written the family cookbook with her mother and was the major contributor to the pastry section of their book. She studied sugar art and chocolate works under world-renowned pastry chefs Stéphane Glacier, M. O. F. and Jean-Pierre Wybauw at the French Pastry School in Chicago. Besides cooking and pastry art, she enjoys painting, piano, travel, graphic design, and photographing. She is responsible for the design, styling, photographs, and web design of their family cookbook. She is currently a research engineer at NASA Langley Research Center. Jialin received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University and Purdue University in 1997 and 1999, respectively. She received her Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2004. She currently lives in Yorktown, Virginia.

What a joy it is to read and use this cookbook! Everything is so well organized, explained, and illustrated. It is almost as if Yabin Yu were
in the kitchen with you to ensure that each dish comes out perfectly.

Just as the presentation of a food platter enhances a meal, so too, the many beautiful photographs enhance the presentation of this book.

A hidden gem!

My Chinese friend in San Francisco recommended this book to me. It is absolutely a hidden gem! The recipes are clearly written in details, the photographs are modern and gorgeous, and the personal stories of the author growing up in Beijing are charming additions to the wonderful dishes. Unlike most Chinese food found in America, these dishes are healthier and more delicate. I enjoy having the lotus root salad which is very refreshing, unique, and simple to make. The green onion flatbreads turned out to be delicious! So far, all the recipes that I tried have worked great! It is nice to see that Chinese food is more than just stir-fry and chicken fried rice.

Selling here for over $40.00! I got mine for $10.00. However, knowing what I know now about the incredible benefits of this book, if I had no other way of getting a copy, I'd pay $100.00 or more for this book. Simple, streamlined and pragmatic, this less than 100 pages of information is one of the most power packed books I have probably ever read. Of course it's only a sliver of the information found in the Bible, but this book takes that sliver of information and focuses it like a laser beam to change your life. I am already on my second time through it in 2 weeks. I have already had some major breakthroughs. I'll be reading and studying this until I have the material memorized. It's that important.

Do miracles still happen?

Leon Jones' book, "Under The Mango Tree: Miracle In The Amazon Rain Forest," is
one of the most compelling inspirational books I have read in some time. Though
it begins a tad slow, the story really takes off after the third chapter.
Written in the first person, the author uses a "reader friendly" style that
keeps the story moving along at a nice pace.

His account of how he suddenly shuts down his Atlanta business, moves to a
remote jungle town in Peru (though he speaks no Spanish), where he starts a free
daycare center for Indian children in the town's poorest community, is not one
of those self serving "look how generous I am" books we see all too often these
days. Instead, he simply shares with the reader the many obstacles he had to
overcome while operating a charitable program in a third-world country.

In the latter part of the book, Jones' claims to have witnessed a miracle --
hence the subtitle, "Miracle In The Amazon Rain Forest." This miracle, according
to the author, happens when he encounters a New Testament personality in the
body of a teenage girl with a sick baby near the Amazon River. Though this may
strain Jones' credibility with some non-believers, the book, nevertheless, has
enough fully developed characters to hold the reader's interest from the first
page to the last. A caution is in order: don't start reading this book without
plenty of kleenex nearby.

Creative Retirement!

Leon Jones has written a highly readable account of his first year in Iquitos (ee-ke-tos) Peru. Resisting the pressure of friends to make an initial visit and missing the pleasure of following his beloved Atlanta Braves, he is bitten by a need to do something to help the poor in Peru. A small insistent voice tells him to go back. Without a plan and by chance he ends up in this city on the Amazon. He has decided to live there and allow time to discern a specific mission. With the help of new friends and his likeable nature, he decides to operate and financially support a wawawasi, a day care center for children. This is not easy. Gringos--Spanish and Portuguese slang for foreigners--with money and great intentions are beset by an army of poor people with real needs. The task for Leon is to not burn out and return to the States after just a few months with no real impact as so many Gringos have done. Much of the book records the successes of the wawawasi and the development of a sustainable purpose for Leon. Under The Mango Tree is as much about Leon as about Peru. Leon, a successful editor and businessman from Atlanta is dealing with his own past and present relationships. I recommend this book for its beautifully written account of finding meaning in retirement and description of culture, politics, friendship and tragedy.

Having met Leon and being very interested in his Peru venture I was most anxious to read his book when I found out he had written one. Upon receiving the book I devoured it in one evening staying up late to finish it. I didn't want to quit until I found out the rest of the story. As a firm believer that we are all where we are suppose to be having this reaffirmed to me was amazing. So amazing that last week a man stopped at my house to ask directions. It was Leon. A wonderful story of someone who has gone and done something really worthwhile with his retirement years. Well written with good character development and a message of how God works in mysterious ways.

"Your Unfinished Life" offers both inspiration and insight into finding happiness and success. The author, Lawrence J. Danks, has discovered that the best way to find this is through living a life filled with kindness. In his book, he offers a discussion on how to live with kindness. I was elated to discover that there were many things that I was already doing and I felt I was on the right track. There are also many more actions I can take to further enrich my life by acting with kindness. By doing so, I can brighten the lives of others.

In addition to offering lots of inspiring quotes,Danks also offers a chapter on "40 Ways to Be Kind." He came up with a variety of ideas I felt would be fun to incorporate into my life. Some were as simple as offering to take a group picture so that the cameraman in a group doesn't get left out. Another one, which would bring an incredible amount of healing to me, would be to forgive others. It doesn't mean I have to let the wrongdoer off the hook and offer myself to be mistreated again, it just means that I let go of what happened and move on with my life. Danks points out that this is also healthier for us. His ideas really resonated with me. It is very important to note that while Danks encourages us to be kinder to others, we are not encouraged to put ourselves in positions where we can be taken advantage of. There is definitely a line drawn there.

While reading "Your Unfinished Life," I discovered that the more I thought about how I can be a kinder person, the less I thought about what I have missing from my life. I suspect that others will discover this as well. It makes sense, because I believe that the more that we are spiritually fulfilled the less need we will have to fill our lives with material things. Lawrence J. Danks is an Assistant Professor of Business at Camden County College in Blackwood,New Jersey,having previously served at Stockton State College and Atlantic Community College. An author of four previous books on real estate, advertising and job hunting for college students, he is also a licensed real estate broker, instructor and former real estate school director. He holds a BS from Seton Hall University and an MBA from the University of Missouri.

Kindness is the key to happiness and fulfillment. This is a simple but vital statement that we need to internalize and make part of our daily lives. Most people have done something kind for someone and found that they have gained as much happiness, as the receiver has, perhaps more. Author, Lawrence Danks believes this and has written an inspiring book filled with quotes that support his premise, from many of the most popular and well known authors, speakers, and celebrities.
Throughout his book, Lawrence Danks has given the reader many ideas of how kindness can become a part of one's life. In fact, in Chapter 7, he gives 40 ways to be kind, and most of his ideas are very doable. He does stress, though, that we must find the ways that best suit our own abilities and that will impart feelings of success and happiness. He also states that it is important to take care of ourselves, or we will find that we are not able to do our best. Mr. Danks includes a long list of resources at the end of his book, from which the reader may choose for further reading. While this book is aimed towards those who are in their later years, the information is also very important for young people because kindness can lead the way to a life time of happiness, fulfilment and peace.

Excellent Advice!

This book offered timeless and meaningful advice of value to anyone who wishes to become a better person. The path of loving-kindness is part of the strategy of many religions, but this is a secular view. There are innumerable fascinating quotes by some of the best ethics and spiritual philosophers in Western culture. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in spiritual growth.

Unless one is already a corpse, there is still time to change. "Your Unfinished Life: The Classic and Timeless Guide to Finding Happiness and Success Through Kindness" is a book encouraging readers to embrace change for the better and don't let something like age or obligations stand in one's way to finding true happiness in one's life. Saying that not doing so ends with one having countless regrets, "Your Unfinished Life" is well worth reading for those who want to be the person they think they can be.
