In the narrative, Stephen Seller is a beach bum in Key Biscayne, Florida, who receives a significant inheritance and decides to enter the boat business. He retains Alan Lawyer to assist him in forming a corporation, entering into a distributorship agreement with a boat manufacturer, and obtaining financing from a bank. Alan enlists the help of Doug Hawkins, a young associate at his firm who specializes in the UCC. The trio then engages in a myriad of transactions involving the boat business and other commercial enterprises, as well as some of Stephen s personal purchases all of which raise UCC issues. Stephen expands into other ventures, including citrus agriculture and oil wells, until he becomes overwhelmed and returns to the beach. Alan takes over Stephen s boat business only to face bankruptcy when the market for pleasure boats collapses because of the recent economic downturn. Robert M. LeVine, JD is the author of The Uniform Commercial Code Made Easy, a revolutionary, ground breaking approach to the teaching of law. Upon graduation from the University of Chicago School of Law, LeVine began his legal career with the Miami, Florida law firm of Shutts & Bowen, where he was responsible for all Uniform Commercial Code related matters for the firm. Shortly thereafter, LeVine became an adjunct and then full time professor of law at the University of Miami School of Law, where he taught courses on the Uniform Commercial Code and the Federal Regulation of Banking. LeVine has delivered Uniform Commercial Code seminars for the American Bar Association and to state, municipal, and county Bar Associations throughout the United States. LeVine also delivered a Uniform Commercial Code seminar, through an interpreter, to the first delegation of attorneys from mainland China to visit the United States. Mr. LeVine has served as an adjunct professor of law at the Stetson University College of Law since 2002, teaching classes on the Uniform Commercial Code.

Are You Looking For A Fast And Easy Way To Crack The UCC Code?

Recently I purchased a copy of The Uniform Commercial Code Made Easy by Robert LeVine.
And after a quick read of his manual... I found that I had gained a clear and concise
understanding of the UCC.

And the reason I was able to easily wrap my mind around the Uniform Commercial Code
is because the author clearly presents this multi-layered and complex subject matter through
a simple story that just about anybody can easily relate to... learn from... and apply.

He took a massive and complicated law subject and figured out a way to communicate and
teach the material by using a simple... clear... and concise story format that seems
to cover all the important bases of the Uniform Commercial Code.

He made a traditionally "dry and difficult document" come to life by presenting the UCC
through an engaging story that most "folks" could easily picture themselves doing and living.
And then went on to teach me the finer points of the Uniform Commercial Code by drilling
down into the exact details of the document.

In addition, the use of a simple... clean... and open layout of the UCC Made Easy manual,
plus the professional use of "easy on the eyes" typography fonts... really helped
me move through the contents quickly and easily.

And by alternating the easy breezy story format with the logical legalese language
of the UCC... the author helped to give my brain a break... before he took me on a
mentally challenging journey... deep into the structure and meaning of the code.

Overall I believe this "UCC quick access manual" is well worth the price I paid.

And it will make an invaluable addition to my personal commercial law library.

And I am glad I bought it... because it really did make the UCC easy to learn.

This book is a highly effective and entertaining attempt by the author, Robert Levine, to teach the UCC in a manner that is both contextually realistic and legally accurate. If more books like this existed, other "Code" based classes would be significantly better understood by lawyers and business people alike. If you are a professor, make this book required reading. If you are a student of the law, buy this book. It's worth every penny.

VERY PLEASED!

I first discovered the original "The Marriage Files" weblog about 6 years ago and was intrigued. As a long-married 40's male, I was simultaneously amused and frustrated by almost all of Alani's essays. Amused, because Alani had an obvious talent at finding and exposing the humorously ridiculous aspects of my gender -- even I could recognize that. Frustrated, because I found myself frequently feeling this need to argue with the author -- hey, not all men do that ... and, even if we do, women also do similarly inexplicable stuff! Instead, motivated to get an immediate dialog going, I would often make the mistake of showing the essays to my wife with a "you don't agree with THIS, do you?" introduction. Predictably, she not only usually agreed (laughing aloud as she did so), she could find reasons that I was a bigger offender than K- (Alani's husband was only identified by his first initial) for whatever male personality trait Alani was focusing on. (Aside to K-: Buddy, you have my sympathies. If *YOU* ever write a book about what life is like under Alani's watchful eye, I'll buy that one, too!)

Bottom line: BUY THIS BOOK! It is very well-written (imagine if Dave Barry were a somewhat caustic female), clever, astute, INEXPENSIVE (list price is less than $10!), and -- best of all -- my wife will appreciate my gifting it to her as a gesture that I can laugh at myself ... and hopefully that gesture will generate the appropriate reward. ;-)

About the Author
Mikal El-Amin is a Publisher/Award Winning Author. He began writing roughly five years ago in 2005/2006, but began to intensely start writing professionally in 2007. He completed his first manuscript in 2008 and set out on the difficult task of getting published shortly afterwards. After submitting his manuscript to several publishers and being either turned down or not replied to at all, he revaluated his situation and came up with a new strategy. Hustle Hard

Being a teenager is hard for any adolescent, but living in the projects with little or no supervision is a totally different situation. Kamikaze and Killa were cousins who grew up together and had that hustler mentality. They did what they needed to do for clothes, shoes, jewelry and food. The cousins were small time dealers who were up on a come up.

Growing up in the projects was no walk in the park. In order to survive, you had to be two steps ahead, and Killa and Kamikaze grew up fast and quick. Seeing up-and-coming drug dealers, the cousins decided to start a crew called 187 Cru, and their worlds are forever changed.

The newly founded crew consisted of close friends Paula, Tiffany, and Neecee from the projects. With the "take and conquer" mentality, robbery, murder, dishonesty, and lies are things that the crew become accustomed to. Everything around them changes, but are the girls willing and able to hang on for the ride?

With fame and fortune comes problems, and when a situation goes wrong, Kamikaze ends up in prison. They go the extra mile to do what is needed to free Kamikaze, including countless illegal manuevers. When Kamikaze comes home, the crew has already begun a deadly war with a rival crew of brothers. Blood shed, indictments, and numerous deaths lead to re-evaluating the life the cousins have chosen to live. What choices will the crew ultimately make, and will it be too late for some or all of the crew?

187 Iz An Art by Mikal H. El-Amin was a very interesting tale. The path that the cousins chose to live lead to some very severe consequences and repercussions. Fast money is not always easy and good money. This book is a good book for young men and others who have this skewed image of a hustler's life. Some points within the story were hard to follow, but 187 Iz An Art provided a vivid image into the lives of Kamikaze and Killa.

This book is amazing!

OMGOSH!!...MIKAL, I loved the book, it felt so real...I felt as if I was the nosey friend that followed Killa & Kaze around everywhere they went, ear hustling on everything. The morning after I read it, I woke up looking for Killa & Kaze in my house, because it felt so real. The way Paula made Kaze wait for hers although she wanted it just as bad as he did...Loved it! Ha! All of the chicks were ruthless...in more ways than one. When Debo raped Sam...I yelled out *ohhh it's on now*! I had to laugh at my self. All of the killings made me flinch as if I was standing in the line of fire or hiding behind a car...ha! I had tears in my eyes from the letter Killa wrote Kaze. :-) I could not book that book down! Wow! Do the dang thang I aint mad atcha!

Keep Paving The Way

It is not easy to find a story that you can find yourself becoming a part of and being able to understand the thoughts of the characters. Mikal has taking this story to places that people might find familiar and to places that others never knew existed.

Writers like Robert Beck (Iceberg Slim) and Donald Goines paved ways for writers of our generation and Mikal has taken the path to new levels.

About the Author
Cox enlisted in the Marines right out of high school in '99. In 2003, Cox became a combat veteran and his life would forever be changed. "The most endearing part of this book is not a tale of heroism but that of a young man ascending into manhood within the span of a few long months," as one reviewer of Cpl Cox put it. Since then, while facing many challenges posed by complex combat-related PTSD, Cox has become a successful business owner in real estate brokerage. In the midst of his real estate career Cox wrote his first book of memoirs, Cpl Cox, which landed him a seat on the board of a veteran non-profit. Cox remains an adventurist who loves snowboarding, skydiving, motocross, boating, horses, and traveling around the world. However, the attribute Cox is most proud is that of being a single dad to his beautiful daughter, Savannah. "I give thanks to our Lord every day for blessing me with the privilege of being Savannah's daddy - the sweetest gift I've ever known," says Cox.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW TO HELP UNDERSTAND THE TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES OF PTSD

What one reviewer has no way of knowing is the fact that two witnesses who were sitting directly at the intersection the night of the crash he or she describes stated with certainty to police it was the street on which the young woman who was killed was driving that had the red light--not Eric (CPL COX)--and that the child who was injured was not restrained in a car seat or seat belt. Medical reports indicate the child's injuries were likely due to his being thrown from the back seat into the front, but none of that evidence was allowed at trial Eric's ACM download indicated he was traveling 47.8 MPH in a 45 MHP speed zone, and that he was braking at the time of the crash. The city intersection involved is listed on Charlotte's "Top 100 Most Dangerous Intersections." It was an intersection with extremely poor visibility for either car, and police crash reconstruction drawings indicate Eric had swerved swerving trying to avoid the collision. Even so, the district attorney vehemently argued the "malice" involved. The three witnesses who testified they were appx. 50' to 100' from the intersection at the time of the crash and that it was Eric who ran the red light are shown on surveillance videos to be approximately two-and-a-half football fields away from the crash when it occurred One of those witnesses described a traffic light situation which according to local DOT traffic experts could not have occurred at that time of night. This woman was not even aware of the car of the woman who was killed until the crash even though the deceased was traveling directly in front of her. The second witness told police investigators she was not looking at the light at the time of the crash; the third, a passenger in the second witness' vehicle, described their vehicle as being in two separate locations at the time of the crash but also told officers the deceased's car had "sped" past them at an estimated 50 MPH in a 35 MPH speed zone as they traveled toward the intersection. The Crash Reconstruction Summary prepared by the leading detective stated the deceased was traveling 36.7 MPH/35 MPH speed zone at the time of the crash; the ACM for her car was not downloaded. The district attorney did not even call to the stand the two witnesses that claimed it was Eric who had the green light. And one would have to read the file to even begin to understand and believe the performance of the CMPD lead investigator in the initial charges and follow-up investigation of the case.

It has also not been disclosed that Eric has been diagnosed by a forensic psychiatrist with PTSD due to his experiences as a Marine serving in Iraq during the initial invasion in 2003; his bad conduct discharge was due to the fact that he went AWOL because of difficulties in the months following that service. When he went AWOL, he had only 3 more active months of service remaining in an enlistment of 5 years. And because of the bad conduct discharge he received resulting from that, he lost virtually all benefits and was subsequently denied treatment for PTSD when he sought help from the VA in 2009. Just weeks following that denial, he received his first DWI after admitting to an officer who pulled him over for speeding 80 MPH on an interstate that he had had alcohol at a wedding reception. Has the reviewer ever been guilty of speeding? Many more highway deaths are the result of speeding each and every year than alcohol. Or what about a possible second speeding ticket? Using the logic applied to this case, if so, that person could be found guilty of malice and charged with second degree murder if they unfortunately found themselves involved in a crash they did not even cause.

To make the kind of judgment this reviewer did without knowing all the facts is very, very sad. "He who is without sin may cast the first stone." If it makes those who share that same anger and lack of understanding as to Eric's situation happier, CPL COX, who entered the United States Marine Corps in 1999 at the age of 19 with a strong desire to serve his country and earn educational benefits by doing so and willingly gave up 5 years of his life, now sits in prison after being sentenced to 175 months confinement on a second degree murder conviction and an additional 33 months for the felony serious injury to the child. There is no probation. He was on house arrest with a GPS monitoring device attached to his ankle for the 33 months it took for this case to come to trial, and in addition was required to wear a SCRAM alcohol monitoring device for that same period. During that entire time he had not one violation. These two devices required his sitting immobile for a two-hour period every night while the devices recharged. He has also lost the ability to play a regular part in his child's life--he has a 6-year old daughter whom he adores.

In view of all the above, I wonder if the reviewer might reach a different conclusion, and in the future be less critical in quickly judging others without knowing all the facts. The pain and hearatbreak suffered by everyone who iwas personally involved in this tragedy is almost incomprehensible to someone looking at it from the outside. Understanding and compassion is all that we can ask. I hope no one will argue that he is not being sufficiently punished for his mistake that awful night of drinking more than he should have.

And yes, I am CPL COX's mother, Does that make my input any less meaningful?

A Deserving Tribute to All Servicemen and Women - Inspiring!

Cpl Cox is not a hero. He does not need to be a hero because he is a son, a brother, a boyfriend, and above all, a Marine. Cpl Cox is a stark episode of one Marine's experience of the Iraq war that will resonate with millions of others with similar experiences. This book reveals the touching bonds between the servicemen and women and their loved ones at home thousands of miles away.

As someone having experienced the Iraq war through media coverage, I was curious to get a firsthand account of what transpired on the ground. Eric Cox has authored an astoundingly detailed account of his tour of duty that will inspire many in different ways. The most endearing part of this book is that it is not a tale of heroism but that of a young man ascending into manhood within a span of a few long months. The accounts are written with objective precision and unbiased viewpoints, balancing the gravity of war with small nuggets of humor.

Eric's accounts confirm what I have believed for a long time that the nation's armed forces make the ultimate sacrifices in the line of duty, yet they do not get the true recognition for enduring what they do. This is not just about recognizing the heroes and appreciating what they do, but every serviceman and woman serving in the lowest ranks for the sacrifices they make. Instead of receiving the highest honors, many in the armed forces face ridicule, punishment and reprimand for behaving as humans.

The futility of war is contrasted starkly in the two parallel worlds that exist in Cpl Cox. On one side of the world we encounter the Iraq war, on the other side we experience a blissful tranquility at home. While Cpl Cox is thrown into the midst of a war that many do not believe in, facing unimaginable dangers every minute, at home his family members and millions of Americans lead normal lives with the Iraq war merely a news item on the media. The personal letters that Eric has shared shed light on the bonds of human relationships that inspire and give us strength, at the same time exposing the frailty of relationships based on our own evolving perceptions.

For me the animal encounters described by Eric involving the dogs, snake, spider and flies invoked a powerful reminder of the laws of survival. These encounters appear to place these animals on the same level as humans fighting for survival in an unforgiving land. However, Cpl Cox is also filled with touching and funny moments that one could easily visualize as scenes from a Hollywood movie.

Eric Cox has done a wonderful job of utilizing his memoir for an honest and searing account of his tour of duty. His empathy for the Iraqi people and casualties is touching. I wish this book will become a must-read for newly-drafted servicemen and women who have not experienced war. Cpl Cox is a fitting tribute to the millions of servicemen and women who serve their country in anonymity. Congratulations, Cpl Cox and welcome home!

He served his country

This was a narrative of a soldier's life. It portrayed an honest depiction. The events that followed later in no way negate his service to our country. In our zeal to convict, I feel that justice sometimes is not rendered. I wish Eric the best, I thank him for his service and for his book.

Great photogaphy re duck hunting/duck camps

Both the book First Shooting Light and the companion book, Wild Abundance, both done by Arts Memphis contain great photography and a good history of the old duck clubs and hunting camps on the Mississippi River flyway. Any duck hunter will enjoy the photographs and storiies of the great traditions of these duck clubs.I gave both to my adult son, plus ordered a second for my collection.

Great book with great photos; excellent for the waterfowler

I purchased this book for my son. He and I had seen the book on a coffee table while hunting waterfowl in Arkansas over Thanksgiving.
He had browsed through the book while there and really enjoyed it so I purchased him a copy as a gift.
I looked through it also and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading about the different hunting lodges, etc.

Beautiful book

I bought this book for my son for Christmas who is an advid hunter in the south. He absolutly loved it. Beautiful pictures and very exciting interesting hunts. He said it gave him some great ideas. Very nice table book also.

Clutter and Diet...comparing the two

Lorie Marrero is no stranger to clutter. I know this because her blogs and website have helped me sort through four storage units (saving me hundreds of dollars each month!) and most of my condo. Comparing the clutter of our lives with diet makes a lot of sense. Diet...we don't gain weight overnight and we can't lose it overnight. Same goes for clutter. All we need is a plan. Lorie provides us a plan to release this clutter.

There are many excellent books on Clutter and organization. This is one of them. Lorie helps you understand how the clutter is aquired and how to get it out of your life forever. It's not an easy task but this book helps you each step of the way.

The book is broken down in to four main sections, Getting Motivated, Clutter Prevention, Clutter Reduction, and Maintenance. Prevention helped me as much as the actual decluttering sessions. I learned to see "what enough looks like" - sounds simple but I did not know. So my "homes" for my items were overflowing. I am now learning what enough looks like.

The final section in the book breaks it down to suggestions on a room by room basis. She suggest products to help you along the way but you don't need to buy anything (other than the book) to implement Lorie's system.

This book is very easy to read and well organized.

Best book on decluttering your entire life.

Lorie Marrero makes the cogent point that a cluttered life is a reflection of a cluttered mind. Using the metaphor of a food diet for the process she recommends to organize your life is inspired since the two have much in common---eating junk food is the nutritional equivalent of a home cluttered with junk.

First, I really liked the graphic design of this book. It's paperback format is oversized and the pages have a spacious, inviting feel. The lines are spaced with extra leading so large sections of copy don't feel ponderous and overwhelming. Generous amounts of white space enhance the approachability of this 260 page book. In short, it's an easy read.

Another intelligent element of this book is the author's knowledge that any form of habit-breaking program needs outside support in order to succeed. Unless there are others providing some oversight to our efforts, it's human nature to back-slide. She accurately points out that 95% of people will likely achieve a goal if they have specific accountability with a person to whom they are committed (think Alcoholics Anonymous here). A website [...] provides support and tools, including a free downloadabale companion workbook, to help keep your decluttering efforts on the straight and narrow.

Marrero spends a considerable portion of the book devoted to the psychological aspects of cluttering. Procrastination is, she says, the major reason why people clutter. Procrastination robs you of your energy (it's called the karm of incompletions). Specific exercises are provided to overcome the various mental barriers to leading an organized life.

Besides the obvious clutter---Beanie Baby collections, stacks of magazines, clothes you haven't fit in since college, that junky crap that you get for free---Marrero addresses other forms of "clutter" in our lives. Time clutter is a subject that could (and has) been the subject of a book all on its own. The author provides a 12-Step Program called Overdoers Anonymous to tackle the time clutter problem.

There's also the exponentially increasing problem of modern life she calls Communication Clutter---emails, junk mail, spam, telemarketers, and all that other inconsequential and unimportant online and telecommunications "stuff" that eats away at the time we have here on earth.

The back of the book includes room by room "recipes" with the "ingredients" for successful decluttering. There's a lot of meat here (to use the author's food analogies) and also requires the most actual physical work. So it's not an easy section to get through.

There's a lot of take-away in this book that more than justifies its price. I've read two other highly recommended books about getting rid of clutter in your life and learned a lot. But this is the best book on the subject by far, in my opinion. Start here before you look anywhere else.

Great resource, good read, really helpful.

I've read several "clean up the clutter" guides recently, including "It's All Too Much" by Peter Walsh, and this book stacks up well against all the recent titles. I really liked Lorie Marrero's "hook"--that organizing your home is a lot like learning to eat well--because it takes into account both the short-term and long-term aspects of combating clutter. Anyone who's interested in buying a book like this is probably facing a fairly serious situation and needs immediate help, but needs a longer-term framework or philosophical approach too in order to stay uncluttered. Marrero's diet analogy works on both counts: you can go on a "clutter diet" to make an immediate, noticeable impact, but then you maintain your new "physique" (your less-cluttered home) through consistently-applied new behaviors. In short, I really liked the book, I liked the writing and tone (it read as if the author was walking through my house with me, giving suggestions and moral support), I liked the helpful format, and I definitely recommend this book to anyone seeking help in getting their stuff under control.

Give the mental cooties the boot

Shelley Hussey's "I'm Not OK, You're Not OK, But That's OK With God" is unlike any other self-help tool or book. While some make you feel guilty and lack encouragement, Shelley lets her readers know that they aren't the only ones suffering from mental illnesses, and that there are many possibilities in overcoming their problems. Through her witty use of humor and devotion to God, she restores a little faith in her readers. Shelley puts her personal life on the line in hopes of using it as a coping mechanism to help others manage their own circumstances. The book is especially appealing to a general audience as well as her intended audience because it has universality: many people are going through, have gone through, or will go through difficult times because of stress-related illnesses. With Shelley's little push of faith and encouragement, the readers gain ground against their mental foes to begin a successful road to healing and to begin rebuilding a better foundation to a happier well-being.
It was incredibly touching to my own personal life and even gave me quite a boost of self-confidence and encouragement!

Anyone who struggles to maintain a sense of "OKness," or whose steep climb out of the Valley Low seems hopeless, will want to read Shelley Hussey's book, I'm Not OK, You're Not OK, But That's OK With God. It's an especially great read for those of us who may indeed think we understand the mental traumas others suffer.

In this page turner, the author has bound together a wealth of information with threads of hope, compassion, encouragement, and humor that offers healthy doses of belly-laugh healing. I certainly recommend Ms. Hussey's book and applaud her courage for writing it!

Written with "grit"...

The author has a funny, manic style and writes in "grit." I found myself laughing or crying along with her. She reminds us of the truth demonstrated by every crying baby or scared alcoholic or teenager who won't look under his bed after dark. There is little more powerful than a hug, a calm voice at 3 a.m., the strong hand of a loved one, or a conviction that someone or something watches over you and counts the feathers on your wings.
